Ahhh, Instagram. Like all social media platforms it has it’s pluses and minuses. For me a plus has been the connections I’ve made through it …they’re what led to this. Yep, thanks to the wonders of Instagram, The Salty Dog Hotel approached me to see if I’d be interested in providing an automotive image to accompany their tasty new decor. I was pretty chuffed to be honest, but also worried as all heck because I don’t label myself as a professional photographer …just a keen one! Could I do it?
At the request of the hotels new owners the car had to have it’s feet (or maybe that should be wheels) planted firmly in the 1970’s …well, I could only think of one. It’s my dream car folks, the Mk1 Ford Capri AND fortunately I know a bloke who has one.
Meet Scotts Capri. Now, I’m not going to rabbit on and on about the car, but I will tell you that it’s the first car Scott owned and that he’s hung onto it …so it’s a keeper and I think that’s really pretty neat! I’m also well jealous. There, I said it.
Thanks heaps to Pippa from The Salty Dog for believing I could pull this off, also thanks to Michelle from Brustman+Boyde for her advice nutting out the details …and cheers to Scott for firing up the Capri at the crack of dawn and helping me faff around with ladders.
Here are some of my personal favourites from the shoot. Thanks for looking!
